Few things welcome the cold weather like the warmth of a drink in your hands. Couple it with a fireplace and blanket, and you've got the cure for even the coldest of winter nights. This simple and affordable homemade hot chocolate not only will help you and your loved ones get cozy after a chilly outing, but it will taste far better than anything you grab off the shelf. With five ingredients and no strange aftertaste like the packaged stuff will leave, this may be your new go-to winter drink (and gift!).

Homemade Hot Chocolate
3 cups nonfat dry milk powder
2 cups powdered sugar
1 1/2 cups cocoa powder
1 cup white chocolate chips
milk (almond or soy works fine)

In a large bowl, sift together the milk powder, powdered sugar, cocoa powder and white chocolate chips. Once all of the ingredients are incorporated, mix 1/3 cup with 8oz of hot milk for the perfect cup of hot chocolate. Top with marshmallows or whip cream if you like, but it doesn't really need it - this smooth and decadent, but not too sweet recipe, is a standout on its own.

The mix also makes a great gift, and will keep in an air-tight jar for 3-4 months. Welcoming winter with a touch of warmth and cozy makes it a little easier to say goodbye to fall!
